Metric’s upcoming Synthetica, their fifth studio album, is due out June 12 via Mom + Pop and Metric Music International. Emily Haines describes the record: “SYNTHETICA is about staying home and wanting to crawl out of your skin from the lack of external stimulation… is about forcing yourself to confront what you see in the mirror when you finally stand still long enough to catch a reflection… is about being able to identify the original in a long line of reproductions. It’s about what is real vs what is artificial.” The second single from the album, “Speed the Collapse”, stays closely aligned with the signature sound the band has been carrying around for years now- a catchy, immediate tune showcasing Haine’s powerful vocals.
