Electronic act Trust will release Joyland via Arts & Crafts on March 4th and has shared a single, “Capitol.” From the moment it unleashes a festering squall of ominous and glitchy tron-esque synths, “Capitol” veers past every expectation and rockets straight towards a thriving jungle of electronic club-floor synth-pop. And don’t let the drained vocals of the momentary verse confuse you, because in a moment or two you’ll be scaling the skies up upon an infectiously overblown dance-chorus, soaring alongside its puckered melodies and wailing cries. Toronto’s Trust may have dropped a member and most of its gritty, dark wave-vibe since its first album, but the result is anything but upsetting, and it poises the upcoming LP Joyland to be that indubitable next-great-thing.
