Hear a Track from La Luz Bassist Lena Simon’s Project Kairos

A little before SXSW hit, I got an email from a publicist about Kairos, the project of La Luz’s new bassist Lena Simon. I actually bookmarked the email and planned to write a post before the insanity of the festival took hold. Then, I saw La Luz perform at SXSW for the first time since Simon has joined the band. She’s incredible, and now I’m wishing I had written this post weeks ago. Not only is she an incredibly talented bassist, but Kairos proves her abilities as a vocalist and frontwoman. “Can/Cannot,” is built on slow, rolling synths, steady hi-hat, and Simon’s lush voice. Think a more present, less washed out Beach House. The song’s movement from the verses into the chorus is perfect. The song will be featured on a debut EP set for release this spring on Fin Records. Stream or download “Can/Cannot” below.
