Bill Fay is one of England’s, if not music’s, best kept secrets. The singer-songwriter produced two triumphant studio albums in the 70’s, but when his contract wasn’t renewed he faded into obscurity until 27 years later, when his albums were re-issued and reputable musicians like Jeff Tweedy and Nick Cave had begun to sing his praises. Employing a string quartet, gospel choir, electric organs, and the help of old friends, Bill Fay has completed his first studio album, Life is People, in over 40 years. The time has come to give one of England’s greats the recognition he deserves. Life is People is due August 21 via Dead Oceans.
