Austin Cassette Fest Happens Tomorrow

As independent music’s interest in tangible products and analog formats has grown, so has the number of tape labels. Once relegated to the late eighties and early nineties, tape labels have sprung up all around the country, and of course, Austin’s active music scene is no exception. Some of our favorite young imprints such as Accrue Cassettes and Fleeting Youth Records as well as veterans like Monofonus Press will be exhibiting at the event along with other regional labels. The event will take place Saturday, May 17th from 12:00-6:00PM at MASS Gallery in East Austin (507 Calles Street, Suite 108); a $5 donation is suggested for admission. Tape gear, tape trading, and live music will all be part of the event. You can find further details including a list of vendors here. Later in the evening, an afterparty will occur at Cheer Up Charlies with music from Basketball Shorts, Chipper Jones, and a DJ set from Vegetable Kingdom.
