POP INTL: On the Map – Pakistan’s Nazia Hassan

It’s time to get intercontinental! We thought we’d celebrate the beginning of On the Map with a little pop number from Pakistan. “Disco Deewane”, sung by Nazia Hassan and produced by India’s Biddu, was released in 1981. It topped the charts in fourteen countries and essentially revolutionized Asian pop music. Nazia Hassan went on to become one of Pakistan’s most iconic singers before she passed away at 35 years old. Her brother, Zoheb, acts as hype man in the video below. We love it.
