Portland band Cars & Trains just released a new EP, “The Moon and the Earth,” comprised of three somber pop tunes created with acoustic guitars, synths, and toy instruments. The group’s folk and electronic sensibilities will find favor with fans of Microphones, Say Hi, Pedro the Lion and other like-minded late 90s/early 2000s bands. Tom Filepp’s even baritone vocals work well with warm guitar chords and the low buzz of synths. Stream the EP’s lead track “The Colors and Shapes” below and check out all three songs here.
