Spoon Shares New Track “Do You” Ahead of They Want My Soul

Yesterday, Austin indie rock outfit Spoon shared “Do You,” the second single from their upcoming studio album They Want My Soul. The song’s backbone features Brit Daniel’s recognizable melodic growl and Jim Eno’s tight, no-frills drumming. Around those lynchpins swirls a sea of watery synths and reverb-laden background vocals. The track is stellar, and feels like the Spoon that won me over around 2002. With this song, the new album’s first powerful and rocking single “Rent I Pay,” the group’s incredible surprise tour-kickoff show in Austin, and their newly announced Vinyl Gratification program, the group is walking around like the saviors of rock ‘n’ roll. I’m falling in love with this band all over again. They Want My Soul is due out August 5th. Stream “Do You” below.
