Show Preview: Balmorhea at the Parish Sunday

Balmorhea is the kind of band that can take hugely expansive ideas and wrestle them into musical form, creating a cinematic experience for the ears.  Strings, synthesizers, vocal harmonies, fingerpicked guitar and various tuned and untuned percussion provide a backdrop of organic goodness for which one’s journey to Balmorhea begins.  With a sparse smattering of live appearances, I haven’t been able to see them live, but their recorded material has always demonstrated a master control over dynamic swells and rolling good vibes.  They play the Parish this Sunday with local support from Jess Williamson, who always guarantees a mesmerizing performance.  Check out Balmorhea’s technicolor dreams in the video for “Days” below, and stream a track from Williamson.
