Lia Ices Plays Holy Mountain Monday, October 6th

After just releasing a new record on indie stalwart Jagjaguwar, Lia Ices has set out on a national tour that hits Austin Monday night at Holy Mountain. Lia Ices’ songs incorporate skittering synths, bombastic percussion, and dextrous vocals. Of the record, the band has said, “We allowed everything we loved to find its way in: Persian percussion, hip-hop beats, lo-fi, hi-fi, Pakistani pop, Link Wray, Jason Pierce, gospel, dub. We developed new systems; we worked with synthesis, software, and samples; we became producers.” These diverse styles show through at once, and you can hear them for yourself by streaming “Higher” below. This show is an excellent way to wrap up a weekend for those who won’t be out at ACL or had just prefer to not stand in a crowd of 100,000 people to watch Pearl Jam play on a big TV. Tickets affordably priced at $12 and available here.
