Hannah Lew Goes Synth Pop on Cold Beat’s “Spirals”

San Francisco musician Hanna Lew has created punk-leaning garage pop first with the band Grass Widow and later with Cold Beat. Today, she debuted  a dark pop track, “Spirals,” which centers on her airy vocals and sweeping synths over steady electronic snares. The evolution of Lew’s sound here is somewhat surprising, but I’m fully on board. I guess we know what it takes to snap me out of a month-long honeymoon hiatus from blogging: a track from Hannah Lew. Dig it below, and pick up Into the Air September 4th on Lew’s own Crime on the Moon label.
