A few months ago, during SXSW, I wrote an article about the work that Converse Rubber Tracks has done around supporting local musicians and conscientiously providing resources that actually benefit artists. I was impressed by the movement, and now it appears that movement is expanding to sponsor shows in cities across the country. Unsurprisingly, these shows feature some big names, but also round out bills with up and coming and local artists.
This Saturday at the Parish, Converse Rubber Tracks will host former Pavement frontman Stephen Malkmus and The Jicks. Opening the night will be beloved, Austin-based noise rock band Mirror Travel. Currently, the FREE show indicates that tickets are sold out, but with events such as this, it’s always subject to capacity. Showing up early and being first in line never hurt.
