Upon first watching Technicolor Hearts’ new video for their song “Dream Jar,” I was struck by how many different settings and landscapes the video incorporates. From a backdrop of vibrant hot air balloons, to a desolote scrubby desert, to canyons, the video takes us on a journey through an ever-changing terrain. Images in the video are just as abundant: costume jewelry, shining paper stars, water, flowers, the fabric of a quilt, a kite; like their layered, dreamy pop, the band employs a multitude of textures to constantly engage listeners/viewers. Though the video is far from high-budget or polished, it manages to meld the words of the auditory and visual to create a unified piece of art. Watch below.
