Last summer, songwriter Julia Lucille moved into an Airstream trailer in the woods for a few months after a breakup. There, Lucille began to write and record sparse bedroom songs each new moon as a way of processing. Considering the cycle of the moon, Lucille tries to remember that life falls apart and comes back together again. Fans can register on Lucille’s website to receive a new song in email each new moon. This Friday, she will share some of those intimate recordings on a cassette collection, The Bedroom Tapes Volume One, and host a release show at Cheer Up Charlies. As the name implies, we can assume this is the first installment of a series of recordings from Lucille’s “new moon” sessions. Below, hear ghostly, minimalist track “Night” from the collection, and see Julia Lucille perform at Cheer Up on Friday night.
