Here it is, folks. We’re proud to premiere Feels Wonderful from Shaky Shrines. Recorded instinctually choosing feels rather than thinks, this six song album rips from start to finish. As noted in earlier reviews, the Pittsburgh garage-psych band is continuing its no frills attached rock and roll with a few extra doses of dynamics, yielding a more diverse palette of overdrive. From soulful, 70s R&B on the opener, to Kiss-style arena rock, and then an obvious nod to the 90s with “Totally Nirvana,” the band is broadening its horizons, which is a good move because they have the chops and ability to arrange a compact jam: four of six songs clock in under three minutes (one under two), and nothing over four. This is band’s eighth release in three years and continues the introspective paranoid questioning from lead singer Braden Faisant: “I hope my parents are proud/they never say it.” Fuzz pedals or not, we all just want to be loved.

Catch them next at Spirit, February 27th.
