Culled from the B-side of Genuine Leather’s new Jeff Jazz EP, “Ray Has To Die Today” is the aural manifestation of a Saturday afternoon following a Friday on which you were too tired to go out but went anyway and found yourself aimlessly ambling through a tour of the city’s diviest bars on a collision course with an unavoidable hangover. And yet there’s still something serene about it; it’s Saturday afternoon and you’ve got nowhere to be but the sofa. Apathetic drums ride under a nylon string guitar’s melody and slurred, multi-tracked vocals in a soundtrack for wavering, faded film sequences of a sunny city beach, a skate park, and one of our Genuine Leather heroes strumming away. The video was produced and directed by Adam Cook. Watch it below, and stream Jeff Jazz EP‘s A-side here.
