The first lyrics on Parquet Courts’ track “Borrowed Time” from their recently released LP Light Up Gold ring incredibly true: “I was feelin’ nostalgic…” With their upbeat guitar hook and quick snare fills the band sounds nostalgic for any number of musical eras, but they definitely eschew the glib, nonchalant nature of some modern indie-rock. They take the sounds of the earliest post-punk and the prime features of power pop and fuse them into an energy-filled punk-rock song. The band will play at Beerland on January 2nd.
