When I moved to Austin in 2001, Centro-matic was a buzz band. I can still vividly recall the man at the center of it all, the prolific and unpredictable Will Johnson, sitting solitary in a chair on the small indoor stage at the old Emo’s as a tiny amp broadcast the sounds of his electric guitar. I’m looking forward to seeing him again tomorrow night at the Mohawk. Centro-matic has been fairly quiet in recent months, but us lucky Texas residents are being treated to a handful of regional shows that come with the promise that Centro-matic will soon be back at work recording their next full-length. I couldn’t recommend going to this show more. Get there early and be there for the long haul. Opening for Centro-matic will be the excellent Frank Smith and Moonlight Towers. As if these three weren’t reason enough, the indoor after show features the outstanding pop of Onuinu and local acts Love Inks and Roger Sellers. Go to the Mohawk tomorrow! I will see you there. Streams from the aforementioned bands found below. Tix here.
