Austin’s Black and White Years, fronted by Scott Butler, soared to incredible heights around the end of the last decade, receiving “Song of the Year” accolades for “Power to Change” at the Austin Music Awards and putting out an album produced by Talking Head and Modern Lover Jerry Harrison. After self-producing and releasing a sophomore album, the band is poised to return with a new record out this summer on Modern Outsider. The first song to emerge from that effort is “Just Like Old Times,” and it has us psyched for what’s to come. Featuring Butler’s wife Adrienne, the song feels wildly divergent from the band’s previous work, as they channel a if the chillwave vibe with more prominently mixed vocals provided by Adrienne. Hear “Just Like Old Times” below and check out the band at the official Modern Outsider SXSW showcase with one of our favorites Mirror Travel.
