Small Black Shares New Single, Hosts Art Show, Announces Tour, Inspires Beer

limits_of_desireIt’s a big day for news with Small Black. We’re looking forward to the band’s upcoming album Limits of Desire, out May 14th on Jagjaguwar. The album’s first single, “Free At Dawn” was a breathy, epic electronic pop track tinged with gently buzzing guitars. We mentioned in our last post about the song’s video that the visuals felt artistically focused ambitious, so it makes sense that the band will be teaming up with curator Lindsay Aveilhé to host a group show entitled Limits of Desire consisting of 17 artists that will serve as a celebration for the album’s release.

small_black_beerIn other news, the brewery Stillwater Artisinal has decided to release a beer specifically inspired by the band’s song “Breathless” from Limits of Desire. The beer, named Small Black, will be a black saison. According to a press release, brewery owner Brian Stillwater called the brew “a dark black beer that maintains the elegance of the song.” He continued to say, “While the beer is black, it’s extremely light bodied, fermented with Belgian yeast for a dry, slightly fruity, spicy finish at 5% ABV. Perfect for those late night summer parties.”

Last but not least, today we’ve been given a second glimpse into the new album from Small Black with the release of a second single, “No Stranger.” Like the first single, the song soars anthemically reaching cathartic heights. “No Stranger” features twinkling guitars, the steady thumping buzz of a bass, and delicately breathy vocals. You can catch Small Black on tour this summer across much of the U.S. and Canada. The tour includes a stop at Austin’s Red 7 on June 18th. Full dates follow the stream of “No Stranger” below.
