For a relatively small festival that feels like it’s still in its infancy, Free Press Summer Fest constantly delivers some knockout surprises. While The Postal Service has gone on to announce an extensive string of dates, their status as FPSF headliners came early in the game.
This year’s lineup will also include punk legends Iggy and the Stooges and large indie bands like Passion Pit. A Place to Bury Strangers, TV on the Radio, and The Men represent a specific vanguard of performers who simply slay live, proving that FPSF knows how to do more than just put names on a list. Further, Houston is always careful to stay true to its roots, so you’ll find truly underground cult favorites like Jandek and excellent local acts like Buxton.
Most importantly, as of the end of last week, the full schedule is out with an app to follow. This will be the first year that FPSF sells out, so stop waiting and get your tickets now. If you want our recommendation, the Fancy Pants is completely worth the cash. Believe us—the A/C and craft cocktails last year were an outstanding way to escape the heat between great sets. In the meantime, head over to the FPSF site and start building that schedule.
