Eternal Summers at Mohawk Live Review

Eternal_Summers-7Saturday had to be one of the busiest show-packed weekends in a long time for an always busy live music city. Outstanding local bills took place at Beerland and Holy Mountain while touring acts Tera Melos, Kylesa, and Eternal Summers drew crowds to Red 7 and Mohawk outdoors and indoors respectively. The slew of shows seemed to weigh on each other and were further inhibited by the citywide distraction of students who participated in commencement festivities at UT.

Eternal_Summers-5However, the vital fact to note is that despite a surprisingly meager crowd for Eternal Summers, the band still kicked out great indie-pop jams and seemed to have a great time. The trio played outstanding tracks from their most recent effort Correct Behavior, such as set highlight “Millions.” Lead singer, songwriter, and guitarist Nicole Yun is electric onstage, singing emotively and wailing on the guitar. Summer has just begun to arrive (later than usual) in Austin, and the show was a perfect introduction to the warmth and fun of the impending season. It’s almost a crime more of you Austin live music lovers didn’t make it out to this one. However, you can atone for your sinful ways, indie-pop fans.

Eternal_Summers-1The band mentioned their planned upcoming album that we posted about last week, telling fans that it was recorded here in Austin and asking for their help to support the recording and release costs. You can donate to their campaign here. Until that record becomes a more fully realized endeavor, you’ll have to keep jamming Correct Behavior and hope Eternal Summers returns during this one.
