When I say NY, I don’t mean NYC. No, Quarterbacks are much too unpretentious and charming to be from NYC. The band hails from New Paltz, a college town nestled in the shadow of the mountains upstate. Frontman Dean Engle delivers wavering vocals that sit atop guitar tones that recall The Lucksmiths. “Center” is heart-on-sleeve pop punk, the kinds of song written in a basement rather than a garage. Two-thirds of the way through the brief, minute-and-a-half song, the arrangement slows and ambles off toward its beautiful and deliberate conclusion. On February 10th, Team Love Records will issue the band’s self-titled debut. Dig “Center” below.
